I’m not sure why, but most people are reluctant to admit they would like to increase their overall happiness. Maybe it’s because in doing so, one also has to confront the fact that they aren’t as happy as they would like to be – a vulnerable admission. It could also be that they don’t know how. An unfortunate truth, today’s society is less than equipped at helping people to cultivate this much sought after human emotion. 1. Regular Workout Recent survey shows that people who work out regularly are happier than those who don’t, all things considered equal. Why they are happier?   The answer: Because they feel better about their bodies, because they’ve found an excellent way to relieve stress, and because they’re getting healthier. 2. Sleep Without sufficient physical energy, it’s very difficult to be happy, and sleep is the foundation of physical energy.  90% of us require 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night in order to be fully rested, although the vast majority of us get somewhere between 6 to 6 ½ hours of sleep. 3. Practice Random Acts of Kindness It’s amazing how much better you feel when you make someone else feel better. Make a positive difference in someone’s life today.  Smiles and hugs count. 4. Cultivate Healthy Relationships Don’t gossip. Don’t put off calling a friend. Make it a point to spend quality time with people you love.
