Happiness is not a feeling. Happiness is a state of being.
It’s important to understand the difference between happiness and joy. Joy is a feeling. We feel joy when things fit together well, when the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. Happiness is this harmonious fitting together of parts. Joy is the feeling we get when it happens.
For many people, finding self satisfaction is what they really want in life. Some want money, power and fame. If they can have anything they want, they are satisfied. But others, though they don’t have money to buy their wants and other luxuries in life, just their basic needs, they consider themselves grateful.
Why- because for them, as long as they are with their family, everything is all right. For some people their top priority for the pursuit is not personal happiness. For them, they can be happy if they sacrificed for other people. But we must remember though we please other people, we should not sacrifice our own happiness.
And we can’t be truly happy if others are lonely because they have sacrificed for us. After we have determined our pursuit of happiness, we need to know what makes us happy. We should remember joyful memories and think of activities that make us smile. That is one of the keys to find true gladness.
Now that we have identified the key element for the pursuit of happiness, we should engage in that activity or start with a new one. What is important is we could find way to go back to the key element. But in the pursuit of it, finding that one key element is not the answer.
For others, we need special people in our lives to make us glad. For this to happen, we have to get in touch with those who were once part of our life. It is important for the pursuit of happiness to be with people we love and value. Another important thing to consider to find it is to give ourselves.
It means engaging ourselves in the activity which makes us smile and laugh. Who knows, through this we can organize a fund raising activity for the charity. We are happy and we can make other people happy as well. Finally, we should take note of all the aspects that make us glad and joyful.
We can use this if we are feeling down. This can be our source if we think we don’t have other ways to be happy again. Because sometimes, people tend to think of the negative when there is something that can make them happy. Finding true gladness from within is not that difficult at all.
All we need is simply determination, connection and involvement. With these, we can really achieve true happiness.
